On September 23, 1900, David Van Dantzig was born in Amsterdam (Netherlands). He undertook a systematic investigation of the topologization of groups, rings, and fields and founded the theory of invariants. Van Dantzig died on July 22, 1959, in Amsterdam. More information can be found here.
